OpenAI has launched a government-focused division, securing a $200 million pilot contract with the U.S. Department of Defense. The initiative, dubbed OpenAI for Government, will explore AI applications in non-combat areas such as healthcare optimization and defense data analysis.
The MOVE follows OpenAI''s recent policy shift allowing military collaborations. Elon Musk''s xAI appears excluded from this deal, possibly due to Musk''s recent public disagreements with former President Trump. The contract was awarded through the Pentagon''s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office.
